Electrical Safety Checks (EICRs)
An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is a health check for the wiring in a building. We test every circuit, look inside the fuse box and check the earthing. Anything worn or unsafe goes in a written report. Each fault gets a code, so you know what must be fixed now and what can wait.
Rented homes in England need one at least every five years. The Island also has lots of holiday lets, guest houses and B&Bs, and their insurers often ask for one too. We book round your guests or tenants. If we find something dangerous we make it safe there and then.
What's included
Every circuit tested
The whole building, not a sample. Sockets, lights, cooker, shower, loft and garden.
A report in plain English
Each fault is coded C1, C2 or C3 and we explain what that code means for you.
Made safe the same day
Anything dangerous is made safe before we leave. You are never left with a live hazard.
Booked round your guests
We fit in with changeover days and tenants, so nobody loses a booking.
EICR questions, answered
How often do I need an EICR?
Rented homes in England need one at least every five years. Holiday lets and guest houses should follow what their insurer asks. For your own home, every ten years is the usual advice.
How much does an EICR cost on the Isle of Wight?
A flat usually costs £100 to £180 and a three bed house £150 to £250. Guest houses, shops and offices cost more, based on size and circuits. We agree what is included and give you one fixed price before we start.
How long does it take?
A normal flat or three bed house takes a few hours. Bigger homes and guest houses take longer. We give you a time window when we book.
Will the power be off?
Only for short spells while we test each circuit. Tell us about freezers or home offices and we will work round them.
